Data deletion & retention

Ask us to delete your data.
We will, and quickly.

This page is the single entry point for deletion requests across every Claudphic property. It states what we delete, how long it takes, the narrow set of things the law makes us keep, and exactly where to send the request.

The short version

Write to us and your data goes. No fee, no retention-desk runaround, no form designed to exhaust you. We acknowledge within two working days and finish within thirty. The only things we keep are invoices and tax records, because Indian law requires it — and those are kept in isolation and used for nothing else.

Which Claudphic are you dealing with?

Claudphic operates more than one property and they hold different data, so the route differs. Find yourself below.

If you are…What we holdWhere to go
Someone who emailed or called Claudphic Your correspondence and contact details This page — see how to request
A Claudphic Ads account holder Your account, billing records and workspace In-product controls, or Claudphic Ads data deletion
A sales lead stored in someone's Claudphic Ads account Contact details the business you enquired with uploaded Read whose data it actually is first — it changes who can delete it
A reader of Unfiltered Choice Nothing that identifies you; no account exists That publication's own privacy policy
A job applicant Your application and any attachments This page — deleted on request, or after twelve months

Whose data is it? The distinction that decides who can delete

This matters more than anything else on the page, and most companies leave it vague. We will not.

When a business uses Claudphic Ads to store its sales leads, that business is the data fiduciary — it decided to collect those leads, it decided why, and it controls what happens to them. Claudphic is the processor. We hold the data on that business's instruction and we do not get to make independent decisions about it.

The practical consequence, stated plainly:

  • If you are a lead and you ask us directly, we will not quietly delete you behind our customer's back — that would be us overriding the party that is actually accountable to you. Instead we identify the business holding your record, pass your request to them with a deletion instruction, and confirm to you when it is done. If they do not act, we will tell you that too.
  • If you are the business, deletion is yours to command. Delete a lead in the product and it is gone from live systems immediately and from backups on the ordinary rotation.
  • We never use one customer's lead data for another customer, for any Claudphic property, or for any purpose that customer has not instructed.
Why we explain this rather than hide it

A processor that deletes records without the controller's knowledge is not being privacy-friendly — it is breaking the accountability chain the law deliberately creates. Routing your request to the right party is slower to explain and correct in substance.

How to request deletion

  1. Write to us through the contact page. Say that you want your data deleted, and give us enough to find it — the email address or phone number you used, and roughly when you were in touch.
  2. We confirm it is you. For an account holder that usually means replying from the registered address. We ask for the minimum needed and will never demand an identity document for a simple erasure request.
  3. We acknowledge within two working days, telling you what we found and what will be removed.
  4. We complete within thirty days, usually far sooner, and confirm in writing when it is done.

Deletion is free. We will not charge you, will not route you to a retention team, and will not make the process deliberately difficult. If any part of it feels obstructive, say so and it will be fixed.

What we keep, and why

Honest answer: a small, specific set of records survives a deletion request, because the law requires it rather than because we want them.

  • Invoices and tax records. Indian law obliges a company to retain accounting records for a statutory period. These contain a billing name, address and amount. They are stored separately, used for nothing but statutory compliance, and deleted when the period ends.
  • Records under legal hold. If a specific dispute or lawful order requires preservation, that overrides deletion for as long as it stands. We will tell you if this applies to you, where we are permitted to.
  • Anonymised aggregates. Counts and benchmarks that cannot be traced back to you or your business are not personal data and are not deleted. If a figure could identify you, it is not aggregate and it goes.

Backups

Deleting a record removes it from live systems straight away. Encrypted backups are a different matter: they are immutable by design, which is what makes them useful when something goes wrong. Rather than tamper with them, we let them expire — ordinarily within ninety days — after which no copy of your data remains. If a backup were ever restored in that window, the deletion is reapplied as part of the restore.

Advertising platforms we send data to

Claudphic Ads exists to upload conversion outcomes back to Google Ads and Meta on a customer's instruction. Two things follow that you are entitled to know:

  • Identifiers are hashed before they leave. Where a platform requires an email or phone number to match a conversion, it is hashed first. We do not transmit raw contact details to an advertising platform.
  • Deleting with us does not delete at the platform. Once a conversion has been uploaded, Google and Meta hold it under their own retention rules. We will tell you what was sent and when, and point you at their deletion routes, but we cannot reach into their systems for you.

If you connected an advertising account to Claudphic Ads using a platform login and have since removed our app at that platform, the platform notifies us and we delete the associated tokens and account linkage automatically — you do not need to write to us as well.

If we get it wrong

You can complain, and you should. Write to us first — most problems are a misunderstanding and we would rather fix it than be reported. If that does not resolve it, you can escalate to the Data Protection Board of India under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, or to your national supervisory authority if you are in the EU or UK.

We would rather receive a complaint that turns out to be unfounded than have a real one go unmade.

Deletion, summarised

  • Deletion requests for any Claudphic property start at the published Claudphic contact address, or in-product for Claudphic Ads account holders.
  • Requests are acknowledged within two working days and completed within thirty days, free of charge.
  • Where a business stores sales leads in Claudphic Ads, that business is the data fiduciary and Claudphic is the processor; a lead's request is actioned on that business's instruction and confirmed back to the lead.
  • Only invoices, tax records and data under legal hold survive a deletion request, and only for the statutory period.
  • Encrypted backups expire on their own rotation, ordinarily within ninety days, after which no copy remains.
  • Identifiers sent to Google Ads and Meta are hashed before transmission; data already uploaded is then governed by those platforms' own retention rules.
